Project 2: Great Room Interior
Budget Range: $$
The Challenge:
- To define a design for a large living room/great room area within a newly built home, while taking into consideration the lifestyle and influences of adjacent areas.
Before:
Key Design Features:
- Custom designed and manufactured upholstered furniture and drapery
- Works by Canadian artists including a one of a kind, commissioned painting
- Additional key furnishing pieces and lighting, as well as exquisite accessories
The Solution:
- Utilize colours found within the incredible Persian carpet acquired by the client
- Design and build custom, oversized upholstered furniture to compliment the carpet and scale of the space
- Source additional furnishings, art, accessories and lighting from various Canadian and US vendors
- Commission a one of a kind painting as the "wild card" feature in the room
- Add custom paneling to walls flagging the fireplace to add interest and complete the otherwise bland niche
Testimonial:
“When I finally decided to build my dream house, I envisioned it to be a “nice” house. What it actually turned out to be was an “incredible” home thanks to the giftedness of David Boyes. David’s innate ability to understand my eclectic style was uncanny. With a flawless eye for colour, detail and an amazing aesthetic for design, David turned an ordinary space into an inviting place of understated elegance and refinement.
David’s commitment to each and every project in my home was incomparable. He worked tirelessly to achieve perfection and the end result exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend David Boyes and look forward to working with him in my future projects.”
